Candy Stripes

March has arrived and I am so excited that spring is just around the corner!  NYC weather has been a roller coaster ride lately, but I'll take as many of the spring-like days that I can.  This pink candy striped top has unexpected details with large bows at each wrist and slanting shoulder.  This is a great transition top as you can wear it with booties and jeans now then a skirt or high waisted shorts later.

Color Crush

Black tights are usually a part of my daily uniform during the winter months, but I love wearing fun colored tights when I can.  The detail in this dress has a great mix of colors so you can easily match with tights of various colors.  These boots are on super sale now and are really comfortable.  It looks like there is only one size left- if it's yours I would grab it!

Winter Contrasts

This winter in New York has been one filled with contrasts- almost 70 degrees one day and freezing temps another.  I wanted to take full advantage of this spring like weather (even with snow still on the ground!) to present the best designer for really special and striking dresses: Self-Portrait. It's my go to for formal events and has become more readily available in the US due to its growing popularity. You must try on a Self Portrait dress if you get the chance!

Spread the Love

Valentine's Day may be a Hallmark holiday, but it is one of my favorites.  It's all about spreading the love.  Who cannot enjoy a holiday that includes red, chocolates and bubbly?  I found this great and affordable skirt to celebrate and topped it with this adorable knit top.  I literally cannot get over the bows on this top - it's just too cute!  Anyway, hope that you have a fabulous day celebrating all your loved ones!

Next Stop: Bubbles

After taking many, many years (almost 100!) to build, NYC opened the Second Avenue subway line to kick off the new year.  It is shiny, new and celebrates the diversity of the humans of New York.  The contemporary art installations at the stations are captivating and inspirational.  They actually make you want to stay a while in the station- completely unheard of in such a fast paced city.  If you get a chance to visit NYC or don't normally travel above 14th Street, definitely check it out.

The Sun and the Moon

I am so excited to be able to share with you this amazing organization that makes beautiful unique clothing while helping communities in Latin America.  Dvotio has found the perfect balance between modern design, indigenous tradition and innovation.  This vest is from the Killaraymi collection which has been made by artisans applying a weaving method that uses two distinct sets of thread that are interlaced at right angles to form an embossed fabric.  Killa means moon and raymi sun in Quechua.  I love all the pieces from the collection!

Tierra Querida

There is nothing like the feeling of coming home.  As the plane hits the ground on my beloved homeland ("tierra querida"), I am overwhelmed with a feeling of excitement and indescribable joy for everything that Colombia means to me- family, lively music, fresh food and pure happiness.  Strolling through Plaza Botero with Fernando Botero's great masterpieces all around me, I feel the energy of the city and its people.  These photos give you a taste of the City of Eternal Spring- enjoy!

Afrikan Flavor

Our trip to South Africa ended in Cape Town which is a captivating and vibrant city.  I tried capturing a bit of the Afrikan flavor by purchasing this bold print skirt from a local designer at the Watershed.  The Watershed is great place to shop for items made by South African designers and artisans.  There is so much to discover in Cape Town from amazing hikes to beaches to beautiful gardens.  I hope to return soon and travel more throughout Africa.

Flamingos in the Winelands

I am in the middle of enjoying an incredible trip to South Africa.  We're trying to cover the most that we can while we are here and are enjoying everything from safaris to wine tasting.  For our first visit to the Winelands, I wore this striped flamingo print skirt that I absolutely love.  How can you beat stripes and pink flamingos?

Christmas in New York

I love the twinkling lights and endless energy New York has during the holiday season.  It truly is one of the best times of the year.  Throwing on a winter white dress during this season can be unexpected and stands out in a sea of red and green.  I was fortunate enough to have this DVF Zodiac clutch signed by Ms. von Furstenburg.  These make a great gift for any occasion.

Coming Up Roses

This colorful rose print skirt is also great for both day and night holiday celebrations.  For a conservative event, it can be paired with a turtleneck or blouse.  For the evening, an off-the-shoulder top makes a statement.  I love the rose gold zipper in the back of the top that I have paired with the skirt.   Red velvet shoes put the finishing touch on any holiday outfit.
