Rainbow Reigns

I’m back and ready to embrace spring in NYC. The City feels vibrant and alive as we’re able to enjoy time outdoors again. With warmer temperatures and bright sunshine, I immediately gravitated to this rainbow inspired dress. It’s one of the best transitional spring pieces- throw it on with a turtleneck for cooler days, a t-shirt for when it’s warm and with nothing when it’s hot. The colors will also make it impossible not to smile!

Colombia Mi Amor

Colombia is a country of mountains, beaches and jungle filled with happy, welcoming people in colorful towns with an abundance of flora and fauna. Whether it’s a corner store, restaurant or bus, the sounds of music pour out of everywhere. It’s a place that forever captures your heart. This is why I had to have this crop top embroidered with Colombia mi amor- simply stated and true.

Matchy-Matchy

Matching sets are so easy to wear- requires absolutely no thinking when worn together and a totally different look when worn separately. When I first saw this set online, I immediately fell in love with the print and ruffles. Both flirty and feminine- it’s the perfect outfit to embrace a summer that hopefully will be filled with a sense of normalcy.

Medellin Bonita

Medellin will always have my heart. It’s the city that brings me the most joy so I was excited to learn of the Medellin Bonita collection by Pineapples Don’t Have Sleeves. It captures what makes Medellin a unique, innovative and beautiful city- the incredible Fernando Botero sculptures, the comprehensive metro system, the infamous Comuna 13 and the tranquil botanical garden. I fell in love with the whole collection, but grabbed the whimsical metro inspired print skirt with white fringe perfect for twirling. I will always be reminded of my Medellin Bonita when I wear this skirt.

Salento

Salento is a charming colorful town in the coffee growing region of Colombia (aka Eje Cafetero). With its cute shops and restaurants, it makes a great base for exploring the region. Its the home of Cocora Valley, which is full of beautiful wax palms (the tallest palm trees in the world) set against the Andean Mountains. The easiest and most adventurous way to get Cocora Valley is by catching a Willys jeep from Salento’s main town plaza. You can then explore the Valley by foot or horseback. While in Salento, eating trout with an enormous fried plantain slice called patacon is an absolute must. Definitely worth the calories!

Now on to the fashion…For this trip to Salento, I decided to jump on the pajama trend. I wasn’t keen on the trend initially but once I put on this set I was convinced. Comfortable, versatile and vibrant- what more could a girl ask for? I’ll be wearing this everywhere- to work from home barefoot, grocery runs with sneakers and rooftop cocktails with heels.

Going Dotty

I think it’s is nearly impossible to have a bad day when you’re wearing polka dots. They are playful and scientifically proven to bring joy (round shapes are associated with safety and positivity). It may have been why I was drawn to this fun matching set. I love the stretch cotton crop top as it looks good with the high waisted jeans or shorts in addition to the matching skirt. I paired this outfit with what now have become my favorite sandals- I don’t think I have ever seen a cuter pair of sandals! They are handmade by Colombian artisans so the fabric and detail are beautiful.

Tatacoa

Tatacoa is a dry forest tropical ecosystem in Colombia that has the appearance of a desert but with vivid flora and fauna that is surrounded by the the Cordillera Central mountain range- a truly spectacular and unique landscape. It’s most famous for its grey (Los Hoyos) and red (El Cuzco) deserts that give the impression of traveling from the moon to Mars. A guide is best for exploring this area as we did see quite a few lost travelers trying to get through the surreal labyrinth of El Cuzco. To get to Tatacoa, there are direct flights to Neiva from Bogota (only 35 minutes!) and then it’s a little less than 1.5 hours into the “desert.” There are many basic lodging options available with the most modern being the Bethel Bio Luxury Hotel. This is an incredible trip that is absolutely worth doing for two to three nights- be prepared for the heat and spectacular views.

Mompox

Santa Cruz de Mompox is a magical town near the coast of Colombia that contains a rich cultural history, well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture and the most important river in the country. Since the only way to get to Mompox was by boat for many years, it’s a town frozen in time with plenty of original, beautiful buildings. A peaceful boat ride on the Magdalena River feels surreal with an incredible amount of birds and other wildlife. Ending each night at the Hotel Portal de la Marquesa only adds to the experience of being transported back in time (be sure to book the suite with its own dipping pool).

For this fantastic journey to Mompox, I wore this pretty, off the shoulder dress. I cannot get enough of the ombre bird print- it’s my absolute favorite! The material does not wrinkle making it perfect for traveling.

Although most people consider Valentine’s a Hallmark holiday and may not buy into all the cheesiness , I have to confess that I love it. It’s the one holiday that has all my favorite things- chocolate, flowers, hearts and everything that is red and pink! When I saw this dress I knew it would be perfect for celebrating. I adore the red and pink plaid, puffed sleeves and empire collar. It’s another piece that would look good with anything from heels to sneakers.

Winter Uniform

Now that it is cold in New York, I had to pull out my winter uniform- a colorful coat for dreary winter days, faux leather leggings for warmth and a cute hat to lift the spirits. This coat was the best purchase this winter- I get compliments every time I wear it. The ombre color scheme makes it stand out among a sea of black puffer coats. The best part is that it is warm and comfy too!

Shoot for the Stars

I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it online. The color is perfection, the metallic stars sparkle in the light and the puffed sleeves add that special detail. I’m pretty sure it’s the best flowy maxi dress that I own and now easily tops my list as my favorite. It also comes in black if pink is not your thing.

I couldn’t end this post without mentioning the amazing place these pictures were taken- Azulik. There are a lot of cool hotels and restaurants in Tulum, but Azulik wins with its incredible architecture. From its shops to art gallery to its restaurants, every design detail is stunning. This is an absolute must-see in Tulum!

Mexico Lindo

After not travelling internationally for the majority of 2020, I made a quick escape to Mexico to enjoy the food, sea and culture while following the appropriate COVID-19 protocols. Mexico has to be one of my favorite places to visit as it offers a bit of everything and there is so much natural beauty to take in. Thanks to Mexico’s good weather, most activities and restaurants are outdoors making it easier to take the necessary COVID precautions.

I am fascinated by the textiles of Mexico and could not leave without picking up this dress with beautiful colorful embroidery. The embroidery work differs by region. I bought this dress at a local shop in Playa del Carmen and the pictures were taken at Hotel La Semilla which has unique design details. The hotel is in a great location and the breakfast is delicious so I would recommend it if you wanted a small, charming and no frills place to stay in Playa del Carmen.

Rainy Days

When a rain jacket actually makes you excited that it’s raining outside you know it’s good. I adore everything about this jacket- the length, the colors and, of course, the cat!! It has to be one of the cutest rain jackets ever. It just recently came back in stock so grab it while you can.

Brighten Winter Days

The days are so short and dark right now that adding a bit of color to your outfit can brighten your day. That is one of the reasons that I chose this colorful striped sweater . It’s warm, cozy and perfect for getting through these cold winter days. I also adore the color of these pink faux leather pants. They can be easily paired with sneakers or heels- wear to them to run errands or to enjoy heated outdoor dining.

Angry Orchard

The home of hard cider is in the Hudson Valley at Angry Orchard, a 60-acre apple orchard in Walden, NY. The property is beautiful and the many varieties of cider available to taste will convert anyone into a cider fan. Many of the ciders offered are made on-site and exclusive to this location only. These exclusive ciders that cannot be found anywhere else are delicious and make the trip to this Cider House worthwhile.

With the falls feels at Angry Orchard, I had to wear this cozy flannel shirt dress. It is very soft and mega comfortable for walking through the apple orchards.

The Vampire's Wife

The Vampire’s Wife is an uber-cool British brand that creates whimsical, romantic dresses with a Victorian touch. The Vampire’s Wife x H&M collection is an affordable way to get to try some of the brand’s unique designs. The entire collection is fabulous and sold out almost instantly, but you can still find some pieces in-store. I picked up this lace mini dress that will be my go-to for Zoom holiday parties. I’m also obsessed with these boots as they are ultra comfortable with a bit of height- get ready to see them a lot on this blog!

Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards is a fairly new 28-acre real estate development on the far West Side of Manhattan. Although not a typical part of the City most people would trek to, it does have some sights that are worth the trip especially as people look for different types of outdoor activities. The observation deck at The Edge is the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere and offers breathtaking views of Manhattan. Taking a picture on the glass floor with the city view below is an absolute must even if you need to calm your nerves as you step onto the glass. There is also a champagne bar upstairs for a refreshing glass of bubbly.

The Vessel is a really cool sculpture that has 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs and also has great views. The best part is that the tickets are free! After checking out the sights, a stop at Little Spain for delicious tapas and Spanish wine makes the perfect ending to a fun day.

And on to the fashion…the Gibsonlook x Hi Sugarplum Home for the Holidays collection is colorful, fun and feminine. I’m obsessed with the colors of this flowy chiffon skirt and its dot details. I paired it with this sweater, but I think you could match it with almost anything.

Travel Memories

When I travel I always try to pick up a little something to remember the trip- whether it’s a piece of jewelry from a local artisan or a special piece of clothing. With all the restrictions on travel this year, I have been gravitating towards these pieces to bring back fond memories of different times and places. While in Segovia Spain, we were fortunate enough to meet Monica Carreteo the illustrator and owner of the charming shop where I picked up this sweater. Everything in the shop is adorable and wearing this sweater in Brooklyn easily transports me back to the beautiful old town of Segovia. This will definitely be a place that will be on the top of my list to go back to once we’re allowed to visit again. I’ll probably pick up this Frida sweater too next time!

Pier 26

New York has a new pier to unwind, connect with nature and take in the beautiful views of the Hudson. Pier 26 is the first new public pier to open in Hudson River Park this decade and the only one dedicated to river ecology. With its amazing Tide Deck and indigenous plants and trees, this is an incredible addition to New York’s parks in a time when we’re all in need of an outdoor refuge.

To check out Pier 26, I wore what now has become my absolute favorite jumpsuit. The vibrant color makes a statement and the zippered front makes it easy to get in and out of which sometimes can be challenging with other jumpsuits. I also love the tortoiseshell buckle on the belt. I’m pretty sure this jumpsuit would be flattering on almost anyone as the fit is perfect.

Wonder Wheel

The iconic Wonder Wheel in Coney Island celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it was unable to open this summer but Coney Island is still great a place to spend a sunny day with its historic boardwalk, beach and quirky vibe. I wore this fun terry cloth top that doubles as a towel when the urge to jump in the ocean comes along after warming up on the boardwalk . I absolutely love the embroidered flamingo and crocodile on this cabana shirt- it makes me smile every time I look down.
